China's scrap jumps but imports remain quiet
Chinese scrap prices have risen slightly in the past week, but production restrictions have lowered expectations for scrap demand. The combination has left import markets silent.
On Friday, Kallanish assessed Chinese 6mm+ heavy scrap delivered to mills in eastern China's Yangtze River Delta at CNY 3,802/tonne ($587/t) including VAT. This is CNY 4/t lower from Thursday but CNY 54/t higher compared with the previous Friday.
