Chinese scrap increases despite declining trade
China's scrap prices continued to increase steadily last week, even as lower steel prices led to declining profits for steel mills.
On Friday, Kallanish assessed Chinese 6mm+ heavy scrap delivered to mills in eastern China's Yangtze River Delta at CNY 3,699/tonne ($584/t), including VAT. This is CNY 2/t lower from Thursday but up CNY 39/t compared with the previous Friday.
