Chinese scrap gains as EAF mills shut production
China's scrap steel market rose first and then fell last week. Scrap prices saw increases as a whole, but steel mills in some provinces faced production restrictions.
On Friday, Kallanish assessed 6mm+ heavy scrap delivered to mills in eastern China's Yangtze River Delta at CNY 2,839/tonne ($393/t), including VAT. This is CNY 5/t lower from Thursday but up CNY 9/t from the previous Friday.
