China's rebar prices turn up
China's construction steel market came out of the gloom in the last week of March and saw prices turn from losses to gains.
In Shanghai on Friday afternoon, 20mm HRB400 rebar was trading at CNY 4,080-4,100/tonne ($593-596/t), up by CNY 55/t on-week. The May 2023 rebar contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange closed at CNY 4,161/t, down by CNY 6/t compared with Thursday but increased CNY 54/t from a week before.
