China's rebar rises, market faces inventory pressure
China's construction steel market briefly rebounded last week, but demand is still unable to support further improvements in prices.
In Shanghai on Friday afternoon, 20mm HRB400 rebar was trading at CNY 4,020-4,040/tonne ($591-594/t), up CNY 20/t on-week. The May 2023 rebar contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange closed at CNY 4,074/t, down by CNY 11/t compared with Thursday but gaining CNY 19/t from a week before.
