Chinese rebar gains on demand support
China's rebar market rallied sharply last week, sentiment turned positive as China abandoned its "zero covid" policy.
In Shanghai on Friday afternoon, 20mm HRB400 rebar was trading at CNY 3,850-3,870/tonne ($552-555/t), up CNY 190/t on-week. The May 2023 rebar contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange closed at CNY 4,049/t, down by CNY 35/t compared with Thursday but up CNY 104/t from the previous Friday. …
