China's weak second-quarter economic data hits steel market
The Chinese rebar market continued its losses last week and jumped off a cliff after weak first-half-year economic data was published on Friday.
In Shanghai on Friday afternoon, 20mm HRB400 rebar was trading at CNY 3,600-3,620/tonne ($533-536/t), down CNY 430/t on-week. The October rebar contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange closed at CNY 3,589/t, down by CNY 244/t compared with Thursday, and lost CNY 607/t from the previous Friday.
