China’s Q1 stainless steel production and trade diverge
In the first quarter, China’s overall stainless steel production and apparent consumption fell on a year-on-year basis, but quarterly imports and exports increased, Kallanish learns from the Stainless Steel Council of the China Special Steel Enterprise Association (SSC).
Quarterly output fell by 8% y-o-y to 8.01 million tonnes. Of this, the production of Cr-Mn, Cr and duplex stainless steel declined 19.41%, 16.33% and 19.8% respectively.
