China's VAT-evading exports threatened by investigations
China’s non-VAT/VAT-evading steel exports are at risk since authorities are reportedly intensifying inspections at several ports in northern China, Kallanish notes.
The inspections have been carried out at Jingtang and Caofeidian ports in Tangshan and at Qingdao port. Market insiders said that some goods have been detained by customs, including goods from state-owned enterprises. Some agents chose not to continue customs declarations due to the inspection.
