China’s March coking coal imports hit three-year high
In March this year, China’s monthly coking coal imports hit the highest level since January 2020, as demand was driven by surging steel output, according to data from the General Administration of Customs of China.
Monthly coking coal imports amounted to 9.65 million tonnes, surging 39.53% month-on-month and 156.82% year-on-year, Kallanish notes. The average price, meanwhile, was up 3.37% m-o-m but down 20.14% at $201/tonne.
