China’s ferrous industry turns profitable in March
China’s ferrous industry has turned profitable again after a suffering start to the year. But first-quarter profits remained negative, according to a Thursday report from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
The whole industry registered an operating income of CNY 1.97 trillion ($284 billion) in the first quarter with a year-on-year decline of 5.6%. This implies a March figure of CNY 777.89 billion, 3.7% lower than the year-ago level, Kallanish notes.
