Chinese coking coal trade surges
China imported more coking coal on-year at lower prices in the first two months this year, according to customs data, while exports also saw growth.
Coking coal imports were up 36.5% on-year to 17.89 million tonnes. Meanwhile, averaged realised price was $175/tonne, down 12.5%, Kallanish notes.
By country, imports from Mongolia grew 33.1% to 8.6mt, despite the 3% import tariff duty imposition from January. Australia is exempt from the duty and saw shipments soar …
