China's coking coal imports fall in May
China's imports of coking coal declined in May as official restrictions tightened, even though coking coal intake from Mongolia continued to increase, Kallanish notes.
The latest official data released by Chinese Customs show China imported 4.79 million tonnes of coking coal in May, a year-on-year decrease of -19.1% and a month-on-month decrease of -23.8%. In January-May, however, a total of 31.86mt of coking coal was imported, up by 7.1% y-o-y.
