China’s coke exports surge, imports slump in 2022
China saw a surge in coke exports last year due to tight supply overseas and export profits. Imports however slumped as domestic fundamentals were stable and imported materials were not competitive, Kallanish observes.
December exports of Chinese coke reached 517,990t, down 15.84% month-on-month but up 17.48% year-on-year, according to data from the General Administration of Customs. The average price meanwhile, was up 2% and down 32.86% at $344/tonne.
