China's steel export surge slows
China's steel exports continued their positive trend from March and increased slightly in April. However, weak domestic demand hit steel imports.
According to the latest customs data released on Tuesday, China's finished steel exports rose 0.5% month-on-month in April and jumped 59.37% year-on-year to 7.932 million tonnes. This lifted steel exports by 55% to 28.014mt in the January-April period this year.
