Southern Chinese EAF steelmakers plan on halting production
Several electric arc furnace steelmakers in Sichuan Province and Guizhou Province have decided to halt production as the Chinese New Year festival comes closer, Kallanish notes.
Chengdu Chengshi Steel has halted production at its Dayi steel base from 8 January. It plans to revive operations on 10 February. Its construction steel production is consequently estimated to be reduced by 200,000 tonnes.
