China removes steelmaking equipment import duty discount
China has adjusted its import taxes on major technical equipment imports effective 1 January, with a six month period for existing contracts to be completed. A range of basic metallurgical equipment, including electric arc furnaces and casters, can no longer enjoy import duty exemptions (see table below), Kallanish notes.
