China refines HS codes for high-value-added steel exports
China's Ministry of Finance has added subheadings to the HS code for steel plate, cold-rolled coil and galvanized sheet with yield strength, fracture strain and tensile strength as classification basis, Kallanish notes.
The code refinements are effective 1 January 2024. They enable China to manage high value-added steel exports differently in future, encouraging steelmakers to improve their product value.
