China pushes on with environment tax reform
China’s Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP), Ministry of Finance and the State Administration of Taxation (SAT) have together issued a notice requiring local governments to prepare to implement the new Environment Protection Tax Law. The MEP and SAT have also reached an agreement to cooperate on enforcing the tax. The new charge is expected to increase steelmaking costs, Kallanish notes.
