China to pilot steel production emission approval system
China’s Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) has announced new pilot schemes for pollution discharge permissions for Chinese steelmakers, which will end and be reviewed by 30 June 2017. In November 2016 MEP published a pollution discharge permit management plan, which aims to control pollution by setting certain ranges for emissions by permitted enterprises, Kallanish notes.
