China-invested Pakistan steel plant starts production
Al Haj Asia Star Steel, a joint venture between China's Xingang Company from Hebei Province and Pakistani firm Al-haj Group, started its heating furnace last Friday.
The JV was established in July 2017, with the plant located in Gadoon Industrial Estate, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. It aims to build up a 2 million tonnes/year capacity steel company, Kallanish notes. In the first phase it will produce up to 500,000 t/y of rebar, in a mill designed by Chine…
