China-induced export slump hampers Iranian iron ore production
Iranian iron ore production declined -19% on-year in 2015 to 39.37 million tonnes, according to newly-published worldsteel data.
This was its lowest tonnage since 2011, as the nation’s miners were hit by lower demand from main export customer China. Indeed, Iranian iron ore exports plummeted -40% in 2015 to 13.13mt, their lowest since 2009.
