Chinese steelmakers plan more maintenance in June
There are at least twelve Chinese steelmakers either planning or carrying out refurbishment of steelmaking equipment. Most of these are scheduled during the first half of June, Kallanish notes.
Steel production was active over April to May due to strong profit margins. During that period, there was little maintenance conducted. Facing the rainy season in the south and falling demand in June, steelmakers are concerned about oversupply.
