China, EU lead global steel output decline again

Global crude steel production began 2022 in the same way it ended 2021, with a decline, led by reduced output in China and the EU, Kallanish notes. Crude steel production across the 64 countries reporting to worldsteel fell 6% on-year in January to 155.03 million tonnes. Chinese production is estimated to have dropped 11% in January to 81.69mt.
