China foresees iron ore consumption plunging by 2020

China’s Ministry of Land and Resources (MLR) has predicted national iron ore consumption will fall to around 750 million tonnes/year by 2020. Kallanish estimates this implies hot metal production output is 487.5 million tonnes, down -29.5% compared with the 691.42mt of hot metal produced in 2015.
