China estimates 140mt steelmaking scrap consumption in 2017
China is estimated to have consumed 140 million tonnes of scrap in steelmaking in 2017, according to China Association of Metalscrap Utilisation (CAMU) chairman Li Shubin, Kallanish notes.
Over January to October China consumed 114.51 million tonnes of scrap, up by 58.4% year-on-year. CAMU predicts that annual scrap demand from steelmaking could climb to 200mt by the end of 2020.
