China drives Indian HRC exports further, prices down
Indian hot rolled flat products exports ballooned in May by 291% on-year to 996,688 tonnes, according to Indian commerce ministry provisional data seen by Kallanish. Shipments to China reached 358,194 tonnes versus virtually zero a year earlier.
The most-exported product was HR unpickled wide strip below 3mm thick under HS code 720839 whose shipments reached 747,494t. Their average value was $376/tonne versus $525/t in May 2019 and $405/t in April 2020.
