China demand drives Indian iron ore export surge
Indian iron ore exports surged 57% on-year in August to 5.39 million tonnes, driven by Chinese demand, according to Indian commerce ministry provisional data monitored by Kallanish.
China increased intake 52% to 4.92mt, while Japan’s intake rose 84% to 140,000t. Malaysia, Poland and Indonesia took in 133,160t, 72,700t and 69,140t respectively versus zero a year earlier.
