China to cut shipbuilding capacity in 2017
China will continue its overcapacity reduction effort in the shipbuilding industry, according to China Ship News. China currently has 65 million dead weight tonnes/year of shipbuilding capacity, while new orders in 2016 were only 21.07m dwt. The weak global shipbuilding demand and capacity cut campaign in shipbuilding industry is impacting Chinese demand for steel plate, Kallanish notes.
