China aims to accelerate scrap consumption
China has established the National Scrap Industry Union (NSIU), which held its first forum on 16 May, with the expectation China’s scrap industry will accelerate its development in the next 3-5 years. The China Association of Metal Scrap Utilisation (CAMU) estimates that annual scrap supply reached 160 million tonnes in 2016, and could climb to 200mt by 2020.
