Chile’s 9-month steel consumption dips, outlook negative

Chilean steel consumption fell on-quarter in the third three-month period this year. Cumulative domestic demand was also weak compared to January-September 2021, says national steel institute ICHA. “The country’s steel consumption is in line with H1 2020 volumes but with a very different economic and political context,” comments ICHA chief executive Juan Carlos Gutiérrez.
