Chile’s first-quarter steel consumption drops
Chilean steel consumption fell year-on-year in the first quarter, says national steel institute ICHA. Domestic demand, however, is in line with pre-Covid-19 volumes.
The market is expected to absorb 2.28-2.87 million tonnes in 2022. If the higher limit of this outlook is confirmed, it would mean a 12.6% fall on-year, Kallanish notes.
