Chile’s first-quarter steel consumption dips, outlook positive
Chilean steel consumption fell year-on-year in the first quarter, says national steel institute ICHA. Domestic demand, however, is seen improving in 2023 when compared with last year.
The market is expected to absorb 2.31 million tonnes in 2023. If ICHA’s outlook is confirmed, it would mean a 1.2% growth on-year, Kallanish notes.
