Chile’s first-half steel consumption drops, outlook negative
Chilean steel consumption fell on-quarter in the second three-month period this year. Half-year domestic demand was also weak compared to January-June 2021, says national steel institute, ICHA. The country’s steel consumption is in line with H1 2020 volumes.
The market is expected to absorb 2.53 million tonnes in 2022. If the limit of this outlook is confirmed, it would mean a 21.9% fall on-year, Kallanish notes.
