Chiji Steel launches No.2 blast furnace

Guangxi Chiji Iron & Steel, located in Wuzhou, started operation of the No.2 blast furnace at its Wuzhou base last Thursday. The 2,060 cubic-metre blast furnace is designed to reach 1.751 million tonnes/year of iron capacity, Kallanish notes. In addition, Chiji Steel also plans a Hlsmelt smelting reduction furnace with 427,000 t/y of iron capacity in 2023, and a 150-tonne converter with 1.6m t/y of crude steel capacity.
