Chifeng Zhongtang operates first blast furnace
China’s Chifeng Zhongtang Special Steel in Inner Mongolia has put its first blast furnace into production last week, five months after its ignition, Kallanish observes.
The 1,580 cubic metre blast furnace will provide half of a combined 2.85 million tonnes/year of iron capacity at the plant with another identical furnace. China’s 22nd Metallurgical Corporation is in charge of all construction work of the ironmaking plant.
