ChengYu Zone receives $90 billion railway investment permission

The National Development and Reform Commission has approved the multi-level rail transit planning in Chengdu-Chongqing (ChengYu) Economic Zone in southwestern China. All cities in the area housing more than 200,000 people are planned to be included in the railway network by 2025. Total investment is predicted to reach CNY 573.6 billion ($90.08 billion) over 2021-2025. This could require as much as 19.1 million tonnes of steel in total over the next five years…
