Cheap iron ore, reduced imports boost Indian mills: ICRA
Indian iron ore production should increase 11% this fiscal year, limiting price hikes to the benefit of steelmakers, while steel imports should decline as a result of minimum import prices (MIP), according to credit rating agency ICRA.
Indian iron ore output grew 23% on-year in the fiscal year through March 2016 (FY16) to 155 million tonnes, mainly due to the resumption of output in Odisha following Supreme Court mine closures in 2014.
