Changzhou Eastern Special unveils equipment upgrade details
China’s Changzhou Eastern Special Steel is planning to upgrade all ironmaking equipment at its existing plant, and the environmental impact assessment (EIA) in under review of local authorities.
The company intends to replace its current three 550 cubic metre-blast furnaces with a 1,820cum one, Kallanish notes. This will cut the company’s total iron capacity from 1.96 million tonnes/year to 1.56m t/y. The construction schedule has yet to be announced.
