Celsa’s financial woes push down Spanish rebar prices
The Spanish rebar market appears depressed, with prices having fallen almost €100/tonne ($99.31/t) in a month. Domestic demand remains poor, as a consequence of lower construction sector activity, which cannot absorb the current record energy costs, Kallanish notes. Price reductions are not resulting in an uptick in distributor purchases, market participants observe.
