Carpenter predicts loss on macro challenges, unplanned outage
US specialty steelmaker Carpenter Technology foresees its specialty alloys segment, which includes its commodity stainless business, posting another quarterly loss in the current quarter.
In addition to an unplanned outage at its facility in Reading, Pennsylvania, Carpenter blames the estimated $20-22 million segment loss on inflationary pressures, labour issues, and ongoing issues from Covid-19.
