CAP Acero resumes blast furnace 2 operations
Chile’s CAP group's steelmaking arm, CAP Acero (Compañía Siderúrgica Huachipato), has restarted blast furnace 2 at its Talcahuano mill, company ceo Rodrigo Briceño is quoted as saying by local media. CAP group halted BF2 five years ago due to low steel demand in Chile. The investment in the restart and upgrade of blast furnace 2 is $23 million.
