Canadian court approves US Steel Canada spin-off
US Steel (USS) has severed its ties with its loss-making Canadian subsidiary US Steel Canada (USSC), Kallanish learns from a company release. The parent company had initiated separation proceedings in 2014. “The agreement is an important step in separating the two parties,” USS says.
The Ontario Superior Court of Justice has agreed to USS’s plan to spin off the former Stelco facilities.
