CAMU reveals Chinese 2019 scrap supply estimate

At a steel market conference held last weekend, Sun Jiansheng, secretary general of the China Association of Metalscrap Utilisation (CAMU) predicted that China's scrap supply will reach 240 million tonnes this year. 215mt of scrap will be consumed by steel industry, Kallanish notes from Sun's forecast. He also predicted that basic oxygen furnaces (BOF) will consume about 150mt of scrap steel in 2019, with a 16.8% average …
