Chinese scrap consumption increases in first half: CAMU
The China Association of Metalscrap Utlisation (CAMU) said at the 2019 National Conference on Waste Steel Information Statistics that the total scrap consumption in the first half of this year was 101.13 million tonnes. This represents an increase of 15.3% year-on-year.
Scrap consumption/tonne increased by 3.5% y-o-y to 205.5 kg/t. Scrap utilisation therefore increased by 11.1% to 20.1% during the first six months of 2019, Kallanish notes.
