CAMU: China scrap boom to take time
In the first quarter China consumed 25.3 million tonnes of scrap, an increase of 29.7% year-on-year, according to the China Association of Metalscrap Utlisation (CAMU). Over the same period 81 major Chinese steel mills also saw scrap consumption surge by 43.11% y-o-y to 11.84mt, while their crude steel output increased 7.96%, Kallanish notes.
