CAMU: China consumes 101mt scrap in steelmaking
Data from the China Association of Metalscrap Utilisation (CAMU) shows over January to September major Chinese steel plants consumed 101 million tonnes of scrap, an increase of 36.53mt or 56.5% year-on-year. Crude steel output over the same period meanwhile grew 5.8% y-o-y to 638.73mt, meaning the scrap usage ratio climbed 5 percentage points to 15.85%, Kallanish notes.
