British Steel new rod mill to expand sales
British Steel plans to commission in autumn 2019 a new £50 million ($65.2m) wire rod mill at Scunthorpe that will enable the firm to expand sales in the UK and for export.
The new unit, supplied by Primetals, will produce rod up to 28mm in diameter, with higher tolerances and improved surface condition and micro structural properties than existing production. Installation work is due to begin this summer. Production at the Scunthorpe site’s existing …
