British Steel hikes prices on rising production costs
British Steel has informed customers it is raising sections prices by £30/tonne ($41) with immediate effect due to rising production costs. It is also reducing output of the products.
Last month the firm implemented a £25/t surcharge for energy costs plus $5/t for transport (see Kallanish passim). It said in September power prices were “spiralling out of control” and making it impossible to profitably make steel at certain times of day.
