Bremen keeps blast furnaces running for power generation
ArcelorMittal will keep both blast furnaces at its strip mill in Bremen running, rather than shutting one down as was reported earlier and in fact planned by the company, it tells Kallanish.
Like most German mills, Bremen has reduced production in reaction to low demand. Another critical current factor, however, are the extremely high energy prices, especially for mills with a higher relative power consumption, like electric arc furnace-based mills.
